Mexico - The end

Our last full day and Joseph got up with me early to catch the sunrise (the sunset behind us and I really wanted to get some ocean sunrise pictures). 

It was our first full day we got to spend at the resort not going anywhere else. It was also the first day that the kids water park in the resort was open. 

It was such a fun atmosphere with music, clowns, balloons water slides and food.

There was also more beach time of course!

After a nice lunch the kids were begging to go to the kids club again. So we dropped them off and then headed back to the beach. While Joseph took a nap Aaron and I did a little sun bathing.

Dinner reservations on our last night was at a 5 star restaurant  Aaron loved it, I on the other hand felt totally out of place, especially with 3 young kids. It was a little 'too' nice for my liking. 

Ok maybe not too nice but uncomfortable.

Something I ate made me very sick that night though, I was so grateful for Pepto Bismol tablets for flying home with :)

Throughout our trip the lovely housekeepers would make special towel designs in our room. The kids were always excited to see what was in store each day.

This trip was really such a neat experience and we are so glad that we were able to take the kids along. It was not always easy but so worth it! Our motto was (and still is) "we can do hard things"! 

The people were always so kind, especially towards the kids (particularly Joseph). We were constantly asked if they could take pictures of our kids with their kids. The students at the ruin sites would find out the names of our kids and then shout their names out all over the sites waving and giggling.

During one occasion the students were desperate to get a picture with Rachael but she refused, Josh took her place sheepishly. Rachael then asked, 'Mom, why are they treating me like a pop-star?'

Wednesday October 17th we were up very early to begin our travel home. It was a nerve wracking day for me (the thought of flying anywhere with kids brings serious anxiety) but everything went as smoothly as I could possibly ask for.

Everyone was so well behaved on the flights, kind, respectful, quiet and even took long naps.

What more could we ask for? We got constant compliments on how well behaved they were. Joseph even fell asleep in a strangers arms sitting next to Aaron while he talked to the couple about their family and politics.

We only had just over an hour layover in Dallas (much easier then our 4+ hour one coming).

It gave us just enough time to get through customs & security, pick up our luggage, recheck it, grab some lunch and be the last ones to board the plane. Perfect!

Who would have thought a happy meal from McDonalds with stickers and pale would provide so much entertainment?

 Loved flying into SLC again. The mountains are so beautiful!

As we made it back to our car the kiddos were giddy with excitement that we were nearly home!
